Porto is not a diss-a-PORT-ment!

We spent our first 2 days in portugal in Porto, second largest city in portugal, you wouldnºt know it...its cute and little, and who knew but the portugese are all about tiles, painted all sorts of colors...really lovely. Anyway, we stayed in a funky little hotel close to the center of town, walked around some, and spent a whole lot of time visiting the Port cellars across the river. SO fun. Port wine is a) delicious, and b) so interesting. Different from other winerys. A couple of times we had such a good time we had to buy, so we are currently dragging around a bottle of sweet white port... oops! We had one adorable guide, who was so sweet, kept feeding us port, chatted with us for like an hour, and showed us all around, it was really great. We also found a super cute little restaurant where this old ex pro soccer player named jacobim runs around with his family, and feeds you delicious portugese coffee and a couple shots of after dinner ºdigestiveº aka honey and grappa...we went back both nights, he was that cute. Mostly we spent a lot of time admiring the town from pretty grassy bits by the river, thinking how lovely it was to sit in the sun in portugal.... i cant believe that in less than a month iºll be at school for a million hours a day, and now im in an internet cafe in lisbon!

anywho, got to lisbon early this afternoon....and its hot. damn hot. we tried to stay at the hostel, but we ended up starving and sweaty super far away from town....and they were full. jerks. So we called a place in town, and are now happily situated in the city center, emailing yºall and having a good time. Weºre going to look about some tonight, and day trip to Sintra tomorrow morning.

oooh, and we went to the Sandeman factory in porto(famous port folk...man in big black cape).....THEY MAKE THEIR TOUR GUIDES WEAR CAPES AND SOMBREROS....i have never seen something so cruel or hilarious... we kept taking pictures.... it was absurd.

soon it will be back to spain, and back home! which is happy and sad at the same time.... but i will be thrilled to see you all(well most of you) soon.

loooove
me
